Senator Hyde-Smith introduces LABEL act requiring clear seafood labeling
Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has introduced the ‘Let Americans Buy with Explicit Labeling’ Act in the upper chamber.
The LABEL Act would ensure all seafood is clearly labeled with its country of origin and method of production.
Currently, some imported seafood labels are printed so small they are easily overlooked, but they would be required to make the product information appear prominently on packaging.
Mississippi and Alabama already have similar legislation requiring clear labeling of all seafood, but the LABEL Act would bring that same standard to consumes nationwide.
