Ocean Springs’s Alden St. Amant and Our Lady Academy’s Myah Favre named State Championship Most Valuable Players
It’s been exactly one week since two volleyball teams brought the gold ball back to the coast and we truly don’t want the celebration to end! We’re now taking time to highlight the most valuable players chosen from last week’s state championship games!
Starting things off with the Lady Greyhounds! On Thursday, Ocean Springs swept Madison Central with scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-18 for their first ever volleyball State Championship.
After the whistle blew for the final time, sophomore libero Alden St. Amant was named the Greyhound Most Valuable Player of the game. In that game alone, St. Amant had 15 digs, 5 in each set, giving it her all every single point. We caught up with St. Amant and her head coach Christina Daigle to discuss the big honor.
Moving on to the Lady Crescents of Our Lady Academy! Last Thursday, OLA won their fourth state championship in a row and their 18th program title.
In the span of an hour, Our Lady Academy’s Myah Favre was recognized as Miss Volleyball for Class 3A, won her fourth state title in a row, and then was named the game’s Most Valuable Player with 24 kills and a .657 hitting percentage.
Congratulations again to Ocean Springs and Our Lady Academy, and congratulations to their Most Valuable Players!
