George County Volleyball eyeing first-ever 6A State Championship

LUCEDALE, Miss. (WXXV) — The George County Lady Rebels volleyball team is officially State Championship bound!

The Lady Rebels pulled off a big win at their South State match on Monday night, sweeping the Hancock Lady Hawks.

This marks the first time in school history that George County has won a volleyball South State title, and it comes after a big season in which they were undefeated in district play. With lots of firsts, obviously a State Championship is another big goal.

The Lady Rebels will take on Lake Cormorant on Friday morning at Mississippi College in Clinton.

WXXV News 25’s Elizabeth Keen spoke with George County head coach Laney Christian on her special group of student-athletes following Monday’s South State victory.
