Saints Report: New Orleans puts up fight against Buffalo, but drops Week 4 matchup 31-19
The New Orleans Saints remained on the road for Week 4 as they traveled to Buffalo to face Josh Allen and the Bills, and although they showed some life, the team ultimately dropped the game 31-19.
The Saints played competitively in the first half, tying the Bills in the first quarter with a Kendre Miller rushing touchdown. The Bills scored again with two minutes left in the frame to take a 14-7 lead.
A Blake Grupe 54-yard field goal made it 14-10 at the half, with the Black and Gold knocking at the door. Both teams crossed the goal line in the third, and the Saints went for two to try and cut the deficit to three, but the conversion was no good.
The Black and Gold defense was ready from the start and became the first defensive unit to sack Josh Allen more than twice this season. The Saints were also more disciplined than in weeks past, but a costly penalty came from special teams in the fourth quarter. A roughing the kicker call gave the ball back to the Bills when New Orleans needed it the most.
There were some signs of hope while playing once of the hottest teams in the NFL, but the Saints are still looking for their first win. New Orleans will take the field again on Sunday, October 5th, as they welcome the New York Giants to the Big Easy.
