A crown fit for a cancer surviving queen: Katherine Adams named St. Patrick Homecoming Queen

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-It’s that time of year where high schools are taking part in their homecoming week and welcoming alumni back to their schools.

It’s a full circle moment for many, but none quite as special as this one.

This past Friday night, St. Patrick Catholic High School held their homecoming football game and presented their prestigious court.

All ladies represented their senior class well, but only one could be crowned.

The Fighting Irish family chose to crown senior soccer and tennis player Katherine Adams. At a loss for words, Adams shares what this means to her. “Just everything this week. Me not being here last year to do any of the fun activities, it means so much more to me to be here my senior year and win queen. It just means so much to me.”

Adams wasn’t able to take part of the festivities last year or any other extracurricular’s because she was fighting an aggressive case of Ewing Sarcoma her entire junior year.

Throughout treatment, friends, family, and the entire Gulf Coast came together to show their support through prayers, blood drives, fundraisers, and so much more.

One year later, Adams is celebrating more than just the beautiful crown on her head, she’s also celebrating that she is cancer free. “I’m celebrating that I get to finish my senior year and not struggle and not be in the hospital. I get to be here with all my friends.

The fight is finally over, but Katherine’s Army will live on forever.
