2025 Gold Star Families Remembrance Week
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and Georgia Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock introduced a resolution to honor the sacrifices made by families of military service members.
The measure established September 21 through the 27 as Gold Star Families Remembrance Week.
The observance usually follows Gold Star Mother’s Day which has been recognized as the last Sunday of September since 1936.
Senator Hyde-Smith first introduced the Gold Star Families Week in 2018, establishing the first formal and national recognition. Both Hyde-Smith and Senator Warnock have introduced the legislation jointly since 2021.
In a statement, Senator Hyde-Smith says the “nation is indebted to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
