Ohr-O’Keefe Museum holding postponed Juneteenth event Saturday

Ohr-O’Keefe Museum, along with the Cosmic Poetry Sanctuary, will host their Juneteenth celebration on Saturday after canceling the event due to severe weather.

The Juneteenth Celebration will celebrate African-American heritage. A gallery talk with Kathleen Varnell, the collection director at the museum, will also take place.

Guests can enjoy food, music, poetry, and art at the Juneteenth Celebration. Cosmic Poetry Sanctuary Director Artis Burney said, “We have twenty of the most talented poets between New Orleans and Pensacola. We have DJ Freddy Jordan on the ones and twos. We are going to be celebrating black culture, black history here at the Ohr-O’Keefe on July 17th so come on out.”

The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is free to the public.
