Local teachers receive financial literacy lesson plans for classroom
Hundreds of Gulf Coast students will soon have new opportunities in learning money management skills.
Thanks to the support of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Coast Electric Power Association, local teachers are bringing financial literacy to life in the classroom.
At a recent CEPA workshop, eight teachers from Pearl River, Harrison, and Hancock counties received classroom sets of books and lesson plans focused on money management and entrepreneurship.
Following the event, teachers requested more than 330 copies of ‘Danny Dollar,’ a book that is inspiring students across the Gulf Coast to dream big and make smart financial decisions.
The Mississippi Council on Economic Education is leading the initiative, teaching students how to budget, calculate profits, build business plans, and pitch ideas in a fun ‘shark tank’ style format.
The goal is to give students real-world skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
