August 29 proclaimed as Hurricane Katrina Remembrance Day

Governor Tate Reeves issued a proclamation Tuesday night honoring the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

August 29 has been proclaimed as Hurricane Katrina Remembrance Day in the state.

Governor Reeves says in the proclamation that a statewide moment of silence is taking place at 8:29 on Friday morning in memory of the lives lost as well as recognition for the state’s comeback following the storm.

It also serves as a reflection on the journey of recovery and hope.
