Online applications for burn permits released

The Mississippi Forestry Commission has released a new online application for prescribed burn permits.

This new system makes it easier to get legal protection for forestry and agriculture burns.

A permit is one of four criteria that provides a legal liability protection under the state prescribed burning act.

First responders are alerted the smoke is from a controlled burn, it helps the commission response if the fire escapes, and ensures burns happen under good conditions.
