I-110 drawbridge in D’Iberville back open after malfunction

The I-110 drawbridge in D’Iberville was shut down for about two hours while engineers worked to get the bridge to close.

At around 1:45 p.m., MDOT reported all lanes on the drawbridge were blocked in both directions causing a high traffic impact.

The drawbridge was malfunctioning as it was stuck in the up position at Rodriguez Street near Exit 2.

Minor repairs were made by an MDOT engineer and around 2:45 p.m. traffic was cleared to continue. MDOT Public Information Officer Katey Hornsbey said, “It was closed down for an hour or so until the inspector could get on scene and diagnose what the issue was. It took a little while for the inspector to actually get on scene which is why there was a back up for so long. The back up is what kind of prevented him from getting there sooner, but once he arrived on scene, it turned out to be a pretty minor issue. He was able to make the repairs pretty quickly and get traffic moving once again.”
