City of Ocean Springs shares update on Government Street Paving Project

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Government Street Paving Project is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 11 in Ocean Springs.

Starting at 7 a.m. that morning, the westbound lane of Government Street from Washington Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. will be closed to thru-traffic as the contractor will be milling the street.

Once that is complete, the eastbound lane of Government Street will be milled.

Paving operations are set to begin after both lanes have been milled.

These closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until the work is finished.

Beginning on Sunday night, Government Street from Washington Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. will have no parking until the work is finished.

Government Street will be down to one lane while the other lane is being worked on.

During the eastbound lane closure, a detour will be available from Washington Avenue to Bienville BLVD to Martin Luther King Jr. to Government Street.

The westbound lane closure detour is Government Street to Martin Luther King Jr. to Bienville BLVD to Washington Avenue to Government Street.
