Gulfport woman convicted of manslaughter

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- a Gulfport woman pled guilty to manslaughter in Harrison County Circuit Court.

Thirty-eight-year-old Rose Madison pled guilty to manslaughter for the shooting death of Antoine Johnson.

The investigation began on the July 8, 2021 when Madison called 911 to report an incident between her and Johnson.

Madison reported that she was driving alongside Johnson’s car on Three Rivers Road when Johnson’s vehicle swerved into her lane.

In response, Madison rolled down her window and she and Johnson exchanged words. Madison said that Johnson showed her a gun and said something to her.

According to officials, after Johnson pulled out a gun, Madison called 911 and followed him. During the call, Madison told the police repeatedly that they needed to come get Johnson and that she was also armed and was not letting him get away.

Johnson eventually got out of the car and Madison shot at Johnson, striking him three times.

Gulfport police responded to the area while Madison was still on scene. Police recovered Madison’s gun and multiple shell casings around the vehicle.

The investigation revealed that Madison fired the initial shots, striking Johnson.

Johnson was airlifted to the University of South Alabama where he died from his injuries.

Madison was sentenced to maximum 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
