MDMR removes 18 vessels in Hancock and Harrison counties

GULF COAST, Miss. (WXXV)- The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources recently removed 18 abandoned vessels in two Coast counties.

This is part of a large-scale project across the Gulf Coast. Abandoned and derelict vessel removal began in the summer of 2024.

Vessels from Hancock and Harrison counties were successfully removed as part of this latest effort.

The removals account for about 411,000 pounds of debris cleared from coastal waters.
