Southern Miss Football stops in Gulfport during 2025 Summer Tour

Southern Miss Football’s bus headed south down Highway 49 and made a stop in Gulfport for their 2025 Beach Bash. Gulf Coast alumni and fans were out in full force at Richburg Hall as President Joe Paul, Athletic Director Jeremy McClain, and first-year Head Coach Charles Huff spoke on the status of Southern Miss athletics and of course the Golden Eagle football program.

Coach Huff discussed his goal of implementing mental dispositions in his players while connecting them to one another, emphasizing the importance of communication between them, and dissecting their game play of being a championship team. Joining Coach Huff in Gulfport was starting Quarterback Braylon Braxton and Linebacker Chris Jones. The two leaders discussed what they’ve learned about the Golden Eagle fan base thus far during their 2025 Summer Tour.

“I’ve enjoyed it. Coming down here from Jackson, then Hattiesburg, then here, it’s fun to connect with the fans and get their perspective on how they want our season to go and to just hear them out. A lot of time we don’t take time to listen to what the fans want, but at the end of the day they’re the ones bringing revenue to the team, so it was fun,” said Sophomore Linebacker Chris Jones. “They got to see where we’re making progress in the program with Coach Huff speaking. You all have a good head coach, a good team, and it’s going to be a good year.”

“They travel well. They’re very supportive despite the year they had last year. Everybody has high hopes and is excited to see some Golden Eagles football and hopefully we’ll go out there and put on a show for them,” said starting Quarterback Braylon Braxton.

The countdown until showtime is on! There’s 40 more days until Southern Miss will take on Mississippi State on August 30th. We’ll see you at The Rock!
