Remembering the life of Bay St. Louis lineman Cayce Seal

The Gulf Coast is still mourning the loss of Bay St. Louis man Cayce Seal who suffered an electric shock while on the job last week in New Orleans.

Family and friends express their love, memories, and farewell messages on the casket where lineman Cayce Seal will take his final rest. Cayce’s older brother, Cody, said, “I know Cayce would want this as opposed to just a store-bought picked casket. I know he would want something that his family and friends all worked on and signed and had their hands on.”

The 28-year-old son, father, sibling, and community leader leaves behind a legacy that makes his family proud. Cayce’s father, Doug Seal, said, “Cayce made an impact on every life he’s touched and not because he wanted to be noticed but because it’s the right thing to do.”

Seal suffered an electric shock while on the job last week in New Orleans and Saturday died from his injuries.

His girlfriend, Cassie Lassabe, shared on Facebook Friday that Cayce was not expected to recover and he would ‘give the gift of life so that he can continue to influence and impact others around him.’ “We got a text that a lady was dying with liver disease or cancer and he was saving her life. That is awesome. Through him, people are living.”

The outpour of community and family support keeps this family together. Cassie’s parents, Danie and Gregory Ladner, said, “We’re a line family. He’s a retired lineman. He was a lineman for 42 years and line families are special. They all do come together and it’s just amazing to have all the support from everybody.”

Seal’s love for his children will also live on. “His son Declan is almost two. Anniston’s eight. The children will not grow up with him, but his legacy will last forever.”

“They put Declan in there so he could sign it and I put my little boy in there so he could sign it. He wanted to trace his hand in there so we did that and Mom and Dad and everyone has come and left him one last little message.”

On Wednesday a procession remembering the life of Cayce Seal will be held on Highway 90 and Waveland Avenue at 11 a.m. ‘Live Like Cayce’ is the mantra his family is now living by.
