Lawmakers speak at lunch with legislators event in Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV) — Lawmakers from the state house and the state senate gathered at an Ocean Springs restaurant Wednesday for the annual lunch with legislators event, giving Jackson County residents, business leaders and community members a chance to hear first-hand from their state lawmakers.

Lawmakers and members of the public gathered at Bacchus on the Bayou, looking ahead to the 2026 legislative session. Nearly every seat in the house was filled as community members came together to hear about topics lawmakers plan to address next session.

Legislators focused on a wide range of those they hope to work on in 2026, noting that hearing from those in the community is crucial and no issue is too small take on.

Lawmakers discussed the importance of investing in not only the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but the state as a whole, especially when it comes to maintaining Mississippi’s economic momentum. New Ocean Springs mayor, Bobby Cox, is excited to work with this coastal delegation to tackle some of those important projects.

The legislative session closed out in April of this year. State lawmakers will be back in the state capital in January to kick off the 2026 session.
