Preps begin for the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Preparations are well underway at Gulfport’s Jones Park for the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
The action really kicks off at noon this Thursday when anglers will head out in the waters of the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf, looking to reel in the big catch.
Each day through Sunday, there will be a lot of action off the water as well with fair rides for the kids, musical acts near Barksdale Pavilion, and fireworks on the fourth. Richard Valdez with the MS Deep Sea Fishing Tournament said, “Our tournament is more than just fishing, you know we have pay one price rides, lots of arts and crafts vendors from along the coast and entertainment there is something there for everybody and all ages. We just enjoy it and hope everybody comes down and sees the big fish and we’re so excited for the young kids entering our tournament.”
This year will mark the 77th edition of the rodeo. Gates open at noon this Thursday and the fun continues through Sunday night.
