Vancleave 3-Star Offensive Lineman Dalton Toothman announces commitment to Mississippi State!
What a day for celebration it was at Vancleave high school as one of their own announced his commitment to play football at the Division I level. The Bulldog community filled the basketball gym as three-star offensive lineman Dalton Toothman declared where he’ll be continuing his football career.
Narrowed down to four schools, Toothman opened up a white gift bag with a cowbell inside, announcing loud and proud that he’ll be taking his talents to Mississippi State University! Toothman said he ultimately chose the Bulldogs because he believes they’re a family oriented program.
“Relationships and the family aspect of the program. Coach Lebby, Coach Phil, and their program, I believe that they are the people to do it,” said Toothman. “I feel like they got it going in the right direction and I want to be apart of that. Just how they do things there. They’re really family oriented, and that’s a big thing. Here at Vancleave, the coaches, my dad’s one of them, hang out all of the time. That’s just kind of how they are.”
After receiving 15 offers and visiting several prestigious programs, this decision didn’t come easy for Toothman, and he’s thankful to know the Vancleave community has his back regardless of where he went next.
“I feel great!” said Toothman. All the support here and just the community in general. It’s been a long time coming. It was a hard decision, but in the end, I know I made the right choice. I’m just super excited to be here and be able to continue my career.”
Before he suits up in maroon and white, we look forward to covering him under the Friday Night lights for his senior season with Vancleave High School!
