First residents move into Veterans Home at Tradition

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- On Wednesday morning, two residents moved into the new Mississippi Veterans Home at Tradition.

The Mississippi Department of Veterans Affairs officials say a few more residents are expected to move in soon as well.

Work on the Vito Canizaro Veterans Home mostly wrapped up in April, which is when a big dedication ceremony was held.

Since then, staff have been working to make sure the facility feels like home for the first residents.

The home features 100 private rooms, first class food and amenities, as well as round the clock assistance from specialized staff.

This home is Mississippi’s largest veterans’ home and nearly twice the size of the other homes in the state. It is the first step to gradually allow more veterans to fill all the rooms.
