Wolf River Floods Long Beach Campground
Wolf River is swallowing almost an entire Long Beach campground and it’s not the first time this happened. This is according to employees.
Imagine waking up to your whole backyard under water. The recent heavy rain has caused Wolf River to flood, forcing the closing of popular roadways like Bells Ferry. Long Beach resident Sammie Layosa who lives nearby and works at Magic River Campground tells News 25 campers had to evacuate because of the flooding, a situation not uncommon during severe weather. “We’re under water, we have flooding. The water came in quick yesterday. We knocked off work about 6:15. The water was here by a quarter to seven. So within 30 minutes, it came up quick and then it kept rising and rising and rising.”
Layosa tells News 25 she actually canoed on top of Bells Ferry Road earlier today. The road will reopen after Wolf River lowers.
