Pass Christian General Election: Jim Rafferty wins mayoral race with 75%
In Pass Christian, Republican Jim Rafferty was looking for another win in the seat for mayor after he secured the win in the runoff elections in April.
Rafferty faced off against Democratic candidate Peggy Johnson and Independent Zenas Cappie.
Tonight, Rafferty won the mayoral elections with 75 percent of the votes. Rafferty said, “My grandfather was the mayor back in 1936, my father was the superintendent of utilities, I have one brother who’s a former alderman, another brother who’s a former city judge. So, three generations of public servants here in Pass Christian, and the family just we live and breathe Pass Christian and we wanna make it even greater.”
For Alderman Ward 1, Independent Betty Sparkman won against Republican James Clarke with 57 percent of the votes.
For Ward 3, Republican Kirk Kimball beat Democrat Anthony Baba Hall with 63 percent of the votes.
