Ocean Springs’ Garrett Crochet picked up by Milwaukee Brewers
Having options is a good problem to have for outgoing high school baseball seniors, especially when one of the things on the table is a contract with a major league organization.
That’s the position former Ocean Springs pitcher Garrett Crochet now finds himself in after being selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 34th round of the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft earlier today.
The 6’5” lefty originally signed with Jones County Junior College in November, but that’s certainly subject to change.
Earlier this month, Tulane became the first division I college to offer Crochet, who has also been in contact with other D-1 schools. Ocean Springs Head Coach Brian Rea says Crochet was on his way to Texas when he got drafted with the 1,014th overall pick.
The most enticing prospect of signing with Milwaukee is eventually getting back to the Coast to play at the AA level with the Biloxi Shuckers.
