Make-A-Wish Thanks Volunteers and Donors
They are the ones behind making dreams come true. That is why the local Make-A-Wish Foundation honored its donors and volunteers this morning.
The foundation held its annual appreciation breakfast as a way to thank those who make what they do possible. The foundation on the Coast has well over 100 volunteers who put in over 500 hours making the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses across South Mississippi a reality.
Shellie Moses, the Coast representative for the local Make-A-Wish Foundation, tells News 25 without these people these wishes would simply never happen. “We couldn’t do it without them. Obviously, the donors are the ones out there supplying funds for us to grant the wishes, but without the volunteers that go out and interview them and help us raise money for different events, it wouldn’t happen. The kids, when they find out they’re getting their wish granted, no matter what it is, it gives them a little bit more pep in their life. It gives them something to focus on that’s positive opposed to the treatments and everything. Doctors find that a wish is just another special form of treatment.”
