Biloxi Rotary Club Meeting
According to the secretary of state’s office, decisions concerning the Tidelands Funds are being made.
Sherri Bevis with the secretary of state’s office served as the guest speaker at today’s Biloxi Rotary Club meeting.
Bevis was there to shed light on a new website called “Y’all Business” designed to help small businesses locate or expand in Mississippi.
Bevis also touched on a couple state concerns, including the Tidelands Funds being distributed in Mississippi. “Change is coming and that is still very unclear because of the law that was just passed, that was just signed by the governor and passed this session. There are going to be some changes in the Tidelands, I don’t know that it’s not going to stay down here. I think they’re going to be some lower levels of funding is my understanding but again, I don’t have the details on that.”
Bevis would not comment on where the secretary of state’s office stands on House Bill 1523 or other state matters. She did talk about how vendors are getting certified to transport visitors to Deer Island.
Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann will host a workshop on this matter the first Tuesday of May.
