East Central softball advances to South State with 4-1 win over North Pike

East Central softball’s remarkable season will continue, as the Lady Hornets punched their ticket to the South State Championship with a 4-1 win over North Pike on Monday afternoon.

The Lady Hornets scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Abby Danis drove in a pair of runs on a double, and Elizabeth Kennedy added a solo home run.

ECHS added its fourth and final run of the game in the second frame, as Breyona Tanner scored from third base on a wild pitch.

Danis added 11 strikeouts on the mound to shut the North Pike offense down.

Up next, East Central will host Vancleave with a trip to the state championship on the line. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday.
