One dead, one injured in crash in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Traffic deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a fatal single vehicle accident.

The accident occurred around 6:30 on Monday night. When deputies arrived on scene on Wade-Vancleave Road, they found a pick-up truck that had hit several trees. The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Adam Martindale, was injured and airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile.

The backseat passenger, 33-year-old Joshua Welzbacher, died on scene.

Sheriff John Ledbetter says the cause of the crash is unknown.
