Erratic Driver Causes Multiple Wrecks in Gulfport

A traffic nightmare in Gulfport today as multiple car accidents backed traffic up. This was all caused by a man that police say was driving erratically on the road.
About 2:45 this afternoon, police were called to Highway 49 and Parkwood Drive where police say the man exited a vehicle and laid in the roadway. He later jumped onto the hood of a woman’s Volkswagen and tried to enter through the sunroof. The female driver stopped the car, got out and ran to a nearby business.
Police say the suspect then took the woman’s Volkswagen and struck another vehicle along Highway 49. The suspect stopped when the vehicle became disabled northeast of the intersection.
Charges against the suspect are pending. Police are asking anyone who has any footage or photos or other information on the accident to contact the police department at 228-868-5959. Police say the suspect was also the cause of another crash at Highway 49 and O’Neal Road.
