All clear given after incident near Magnolia Park Elementary in Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- This afternoon, a road rage incident near an Ocean Springs elementary school caused the school to go on lockdown briefly before classes dismissed for the day.

According to Ocean Springs Police Chief Steve Dye, a driver displayed a gun to another driver on Government Street in what is described as a road rage incident.

The driver that showed the gun then pulled into the student pickup line at Magnolia Park Elementary since the driver is apparently the parent of a student at that school.

Police responded, and the school briefly went into lockdown.

Chief Dye says no threats were made to students and staff at Magnolia Park, and the lockdown was lifted soon thereafter.

The situation is back to normal in that area this evening, and an investigation is ongoing.
