Tim Pierce wins Long Beach Republican Mayoral Primary

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)-There will be a new mayor of Long Beach after one person came out on top of the four-person Republican primary.

Former Long Beach School Board member and Alderman Tim Pierce wins the primary and the election by default.

Pierce earned 80 percent of the vote Tuesday. Glen Powell earned 18 percent of the vote. The other two candidates received around one percent of the vote.

Pierce will succeed retiring Long Beach Mayor George Bass once he’s sworn in at the beginning of July.
