City of Biloxi preparing for Spring Break 2025
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)-The City of Biloxi is preparing their traffic plan for Spring Break, which is April 10th through the 13th.
There will be scheduled events lined up for the weekend that will draw thousands to the beaches in Biloxi.
Biloxi PD is working on their traffic plan to make sure traffic keeps moving since Highway 90 is expected to be jam packed with spring breakers in addition to the regular weekend traffic.
Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Cecila Dobbs Walton tells us more of what to expect. “With every special event that goes on in the City of Biloxi that impacts Highway 90, the Biloxi Police Department implements a traffic plan where we see those cones that go out in the middle of the road way. If traffic becomes gridlocked, which means traffic is not moving very much at all, then the police department will implement that traffic plan where they reserve one of the lanes for emergency personnel and one for traffic. They also make sure they try their best to keep traffic moving to make sure to lessen the gridlock as much as possible. Police will be out and about throughout the weekend to make sure that traffic is moving to help the safety of the pedestrians going across the street and of course to help the visitors and residents to get where they need to go the best way they can. But the big thing is, there is going to be a lot of traffic so there is going to be delays throughout the day and throughout the evenings when the event is going on in Biloxi.”
