Officials break ground on phase two of Bayou La Croix boat launch in Bay St. Louis

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss (WXXV) – A groundbreaking was held Thursday in Bay St. Louis celebrating phase 2 of the Harold Harmrick Bayou Lacroix boat launch.

The project is set to kick off in a couple of weeks and will be completed before summer time as construction is estimated to take 30 days.

The new amenities will include a kayak launch, extended bulkhead to protect the property, and a lower-level pier to compensate for the high and low tides.

Bay St. Louis Ward 6 Councilman Josh Desalvo says he is already looking forward to phase 3. “It’s one of the most used amenities we probably have in Hancock County not just Bay St. Louis. A lot of the boaters on Saturdays and Sundays, we need more parking. That’s going to be phase 3 is to try funding for more parking because on a busy weekend they are parked up and down the road. There’s not enough parking.”

Desalvo also says the lower piers will better assist those with smaller sized boats.
