New details on D’Iberville City Council vacancy

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV)- New details in the resignation of D’Iberville Ward 1 Councilman Randall Pelous.

D’Iberville City Manager Bobby Weaver tells us the city council plans to meet later this week to appoint an interim council member to serve for the rest of his term, which ends in July.

As we first told you Tuesday, Pelous resigned upon his retirement from his full-time Harrison County job in order to meet the benefits requirements with the Mississippi Public Retirement System and maintain eligibility to run for elected office moving forward.

Weaver confirmed to us that Pelous remains on the ballot for the upcoming municipal elections, running unopposed as a Republican for the Ward 1 seat for the next term since his benefits requirements will be met by the start of the new term.
