Community gathers for breakfast with Ingalls President
MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)-This morning, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ‘Breakfast with Brian’ event featuring the president of Ingalls Shipbuilding.
This was a chance to introduce Brian Blanchette to the community. Blanchette became the president of Ingalls Shipbuilding on January 6th of this year, succeeding Kari Wilkinson.
Here’s what he had to say. “Well, I’m certainly honored and humbled to be given the opportunity. Really excited to lead such a great team and it’s a great time to be a shipbuilder. We have a tremendous back log right now, lots of ships in construction, a lot more under construction. So, just really excited to lead the team. This was a great opportunity to introduce myself to the community, to build on the strong partnerships that we already have in place and to reconnect with some old friends and make some new friends. Our plans are to go find some more shipbuilders to help us build the ships that the Navy needs and focus on execution of the contracts that we have.”
The event took place at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center in Moss Point.
