D’Iberville PD participating in Click It or Ticket campaign

This year’s national Click it or Ticket it seat belt campaign will take place Monday, May 24 through Sunday, June 6, 2021.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is teaming up with law enforcement agencies nationwide to crack down on motorist who aren’t wearing their seatbelts.

The D’Iberville Police Department will be joining with other state and local law enforcement officers to help save more lives by strongly enforcing seat belt laws around the clock and adding additional officers to our roadways over the Memorial Day Weekend.

The NHSTA reported of the 22,215 passenger vehicle occupants killed in 2019, 47% were not wearing seat belts. Seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives and could have saved an additional 2,549 people if they had been wearing seat belts, in 2017 alone.

Chief Payne hopes through proactive enforcement of seat belt laws and educating our motoring public to the hazards of not wearing safety restraints, the D’Iberville Police Department can lower the number of injuries and fatalities of our motoring public.
