Hurricane Hunters and Flying Jennies

The Hurricane Hunters and the Flying Jennies at Keesler Air Force Base have been busy lately, participating in high profile missions.
The Hurricane Hunters aircrew and team of hurricane forecasters visited four Mexican and Caribbean cities as part of the annual Caribbean Hurricane Awareness Tour. They fly their W-C 130 J Super Hercules to different spots and promote hurricane preparedness throughout that region.
In the meantime, the Flying Jennies have been stateside assisting the US Navy parachute team, the Leap Frogs, with recruiting events like airdropping over Citizens Bank Park for the Philadelphia Phillies home opener.
403rd Wing Commander Colonel Frank Amodeo said, “It’s a way to show the flag of the United States and let other countries know that hey, we care about them. You’re our neighbors. You’re in our backyard and that partnership that we have with other countries is really important in fostering good relations between our countries.”
Load Master for Flying Jennies Staff Sgt. Moses Andino said, “It was a great opportunity for us to get out there and let people know that the Flying Jennies are here.”
Lt. Col. Stuart Rubio, commander of the 815 A-S, also added that the jumps performed are chances to train for real combat.
