Crews monitoring large wildfire in Jackson County

Multiple fire crews are monitoring a large wildfire in Southeast Jackson County, south of Highway 90 near the Mississippi Alabama state line.

Crews with Jackson County Fire, Mississippi Forestry Commission and Sandhill Crane Wildlife Refuge Fire Team are out in the area monitoring the fire.

According to Kevin Craft with Mississippi Forestry Commission, as of 4:50 p.m., the fire is at over 100 acres and growing.

Drivers are asked to use extreme caution in the area as there is heavy smoke.
