Shriners Boulevard Detour to Make Way for $1.4 Million Drainage Project in Biloxi

Tuesday at noon Shriners Boulevard will be closed for construction to improve drainage in the Woolmarket area. The project is part of a $1.4 million drainage improvement plan. The detour road will be for local traffic only, no trucks but still allows access to local businesses in that area.

There’s a map of the detour route on the City of Biloxi’s website. Construction is expected to last for the next 60 days, weather permitting.”It is part of a $1.4 million dollar project to update the drainage in that area. It’s expected to last about 60 days of course weather permitting so once that road work is done the detour road will close and Shriners Blvd. will open back up, again it’s very important for this road work to go on, it will increase the storm water drainage in that area,” said Cecilia Dobbs Walton, City of Biloxi Public Affairs Specialist.

It’s expected that 11,000 motorists will need to detour daily, as the drainage improvements are made.
