Structure Fire

At around 10:30 on Sunday morning, first responders were called to a structure fire in Pass Christian.

Pass Christian Fire Department and a Harrison County fire engine responded to the fire near the corner of Menge Avenue and East Second Street.

According to Pass Christian Fire, a citizen noticed the smoke coming from the building while on their way to the Pass Mardi Gras Parade.

Once on scene, PCFD units saw smoke coming from the second floor apartment. Mississippi Power was also called out to the cut power to the building due to the structure’s location to the power lines.

Crews worked to extinguish the fire outside and inside the structure, where they had to cut and remove a portion of the exterior wall to fully extinguish the flames.

The fire was contained to the upstairs apartment. No one was at the building at the time and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
