Preps underway for Spring Arts Festival in Ocean Springs
It’s spring time here on the Mississippi Coast and that means festival time will soon be in full swing.
Over in Ocean Springs, downtown streets are being marked and prepared for the Spring Arts Festival set to run this coming Saturday and Sunday.
This year’s festival will include COVID-19 safety precautions and also include an expanded footprint. Vendors will run from Washington Avenue down to Porter and from Government Street down to Russel Avenue.
Along with artwork from vendors across the area and region, festival goers will experience a wide range of activities. Cynthia Sutton with the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce said, “We will have speakers and cooking demonstrations and art demonstrations like we do every year, but that’s going to be different this year as well, that’s going to be spaced out as well, so those speaker demonstrations are going to be at their individual booths instead of under one tent together, and then we’ll have music spaced throughout this year.”
As a result of the festival, portions of Washington Avenue, Government Street, and Robinson Street will be closed to traffic from 4 a.m. Saturday morning to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Travelers are also reminded to take I-110 in Biloxi or Highway 57 into town as a result of the Fort Bayou Drawbridge closure.
