The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs to reopen

Lots of maintenance repairs in the last several months have kept the doors to the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center closed to the public.

In just one week though, the Mary C. will be welcoming the community back inside its doors. Next Thursday, the cultural center will hold its newest monthly event called Firefly.  The evening event is centered around the theme of light and will have art, music, and light displays for guests to enjoy.

After changes in leadership and programming, the Mary C. is now under the direction of the City of Ocean Springs and its new Arts and Culture Coordinator Sarah Qarqish, who has helped spearhead this event and 15 other new programs that will be launching at the Mary C. “In the Duckett Gallery we are going to have some interactive light-art activities, so that’s exciting. And that’s kind of like we’re starting to get a little taste of technology and art. And that’s what we’re trying to bring into our programming here. Everything is going to be kinda based around creative career skill building.”

Friday will be going from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on March 18th. The event will be held inside this time and masks will be required.
