Gulf Coast Community Ministries giving back to the community with free food pantry
Gulf Coast Community Ministries is always working to help those physically, emotionally, and spiritually in need.
One way the ministry helps is by hosting a free food pantry each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The pantry gets over 4,000 pounds worth of food delivered from various churches and Feeding the Gulf Coast.
Those who are homeless can get food from the pantry once a week and those with a family are allowed to receive food once a month. Executive Director Michael Wilson said, “They help people that are struggling with the COVID economy. We are seeing a huge up-tick in new people that’s been going on for the last year or so even with the economic relief packages that have been put in place the need is still growing. We are seeing more and more new people and new clients and we are happy to help where we can.”
Volunteer Ginny Cooley said, “So, if it wasn’t for the community, we wouldn’t be able to pass that on to the people in our community that come here for service.”
Gulf Coast Community Ministries will host a free clinic Wednesday, March 17th from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
