Stella the Sand Tiger Shark returns home to the Mississippi Aquarium
After months of rehab following a groundbreaking surgery that called upon an array of doctors with human and animal expertise, Stella the Sand Tiger Shark has returned to her habitat at the Mississippi Aquarium.
On September 29th, Stella underwent an innovative spinal surgery to help correct the shark’s curvature of her spine from scoliosis and kyphosis.
Stella’s condition caused her to swim in an abnormal swim pattern.
Since her surgery, the Mississippi Aquarium’s animal care and conservation team has worked around the clock rehabilitating and preparing Stella for her return.
Aquarium visitors can now visit Stella at the Aquatic Wonders habitat.
