MGCCC holds ribbon cutting for new Immersive Media Performing Arts Center
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new immersive media performing arts center known as the iMPAC.
The state of the art 54,000 square foot building includes a 1,200-seat theatre, box seating, a lobby, concessions, dressing rooms, a green room, stage area, storage and prop design.
MGCCC students can learn how to run lighting, sound, theatre production, and tools needed to be successful in the entertainment industry.
The theatre’s design and location is fit to host major productions, concerts, and conferences. Harrison County District 4 Supervisor Kent Jones said, “We just had a ribbon cutting for their new iMPAC center which is going to be doing some tremendous things with performing arts, teaching kids about sound and acting and so forth so we’re very excited about it. One night we’re watching the Oscars or the Grammys or whatever and when they’re all doing their thank you and thank you and thank you, to person A, B, C and D hopefully person D is a person who got their start right here at the community college.”
MGCCC hopes the center will be an asset to the community and produce future students who will keep and continue excellent theatre production here on the Coast.
