Gulfport School District teachers receive grant from Ingalls Shipbuilding

Two teachers in the Gulfport School District are getting grant money to help enhance their programs.

Meg Barnes is a career pathways teacher at Bayou View Middle School and Don Keyser is the engineering instructor for Gulfport High.

Each are getting $5,000 courtesy of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

These grants will support hands-on projects, classroom technology enhancements, and STEM-focused curriculums.

Students at Bayou View will learn to program a robot and how to solve problems by collaborating with other students in the classroom and around the world.

Meanwhile, Gulfport High will use the funds to start a drone program and teach students drove control.
