Economic Impact of The Sound Amphitheater on Gautier

“We had to have something different. Our own niche to compete along the gulf coast and in Jackson County.” – Gautier Mayor Casey Vaughan

The typically quiet coastal city of Gautier has recently been changing because of The Sound Amphitheater.

“Since we lost the mall there was a lot of lost business here in the community. Since the amphitheater came here you see the tourism coming back and the shops starting to fill up again.” – Gautier Resident Alex McKinney

Since April of 2024 The Sound Amphitheater promised to bring a tourist presence to Gautier so businesses like Huck’s Cove on the Bayou could thrive.

“When the concerts are going on at the sound we pack the house. We’ll get crowds coming in and people who don’t typically come to Gautier. A lot of people don’t know we are here either so it’s almost like free advertising in a way.” – Assistant Manager of Huck’s Cove on the Bayou Marissa Stephens

Even with the growth caused by The Sound Amphitheater Mayor Casey Vaughan hopes the city continues to grow around the music venue.

“The towns common development will be a mixed-used development that will have an entertainment component, hotel and lodging, living, and a retail and business component. It be a great destination venue here in Gautier.”

It was recently announced the I Want My 80s Tour will be coming to The Sound Amphitheater on June 1st.
