Former Golden Eagles Swayze Bozeman and Jason Brownlee are eager to bring a Lombardi trophy to Hattiesburg
There is no question that south Mississippi has a large history of top football talent at both the high school and collegiate level. On Sunday, February 9, former Southern Miss Golden Eagles will take the field at Caesar’s Superdome to represent south Mississippi on the biggest stage the sport has to offer.
Three former Southern Miss Golden Eagles and one former coach will take the field on Sunday as port of the Kansas City Chiefs organization. Linebacker Swayze Bozeman, wide receiver Jason Brownlee, defensive back Eric Scott and running backs coach Todd Pinkston will all be on the sideline wearing red and white.
This is something that I never even dreamed of,” former Golden Eagle Swayze Bozeman said. “You dream as a kid of playing in the NFL but that was kind of it for me. I just wanted to get here. I never had the goal of like, ‘and I want to play in a Super Bowl’. The fact that the Lord has put me in this position to do that has just been beyond words.”
“It doesn’t feel real,” former Golden Eagle Jason Brownlee said. “We’re here! God knew I was going to be here so I am just taking it all in right now and trying to have fun with the guys.”
While they are gearing up to try and win a Vince Lombardi trophy, Brownlee and Bozeman will always remember Southern Miss.
“Southern Miss means a lot to me,” Brownlee said. “This is where it all started at. They had faith in me, got me to the team and it was the best decision I ever made. I love the back and gold, I love Southern Miss and they made me who I am today.”
Southern Miss is who have me my shot,” Bozeman said. “I got hurt and they brought me back so it means the world to represent them and hopefully represent them well.”
Yes, they are busy in New Orleans this week, but Bozeman has a message for all Golden Eagle fans who are ready for next football season.
“Southern Miss to the top,” Bozeman said. “I am excited to see what is going to happen this year with coach Huff. I’ve got good intel that good things are about to happen so I am excited to see it.”
