Biloxi City Council denies appeal of tree removal concerning the Chick-Fil-A site
The Biloxi City Council made a decision this afternoon on the status of trees on the Chick-Fil-A construction site off Pass Road and Nelson Drive.
The council voted six to one to deny the appeal on behalf of the Gulf Coast group of the Mississippi Chapter of the Sierra Club, seeking to prevent the removal of eight protected trees on the construction site.
Councilman George Lawrence was the only ‘NO’ vote.
Many citizens spoke in support of saving the trees at the site at today’s meeting while some council members spoke on how the development process has moved smoothly as well as the need for continued development in the city.
Today’s vote means the process already made at the construction site can now continue.
