New plans ahead for Susan G. Komen Race in Gulfport
The Susan G. Komen Race is switching things up a little bit this year and changing their event name to ‘Twilight for Ta-Tas.’
The Mississippi Steel Magnolias affiliate of Susan G. Komen is finalizing their plans for the race and also announcing the Gulf Coast grant recipients. Last year, the event raised over $38,000 and Gulfport Memorial, Bethesda Free Clinic, and the Pink Heart Funds were each awarded with a check.
In order to top last year’s goal, Executive Director Catherine Young explains the new event will have participants lighting up the night in pink. Mississippi Steel Magnolia’s Executive Director Catherine Young said, “We’re turning into a night event this time in hopes of pinking up the night and glowing the night with glow bands and glow necklaces for each participant. Our goal for this year is $100,000 so we hope we’re going to meet our goal this year with our community partners coming on board and helping us and making that commitment that we think we’re excited that we know we’re going to meet that goal this year.”
The fourth annual Race for the Cure: Mississippi Gulf Coast is scheduled for Saturday, September 9th in Jones Park. If you’d like to register for the race you can do so on their website at komencentralms.org.
