Biloxi Upper Elementary Explores the Universe with the Starlab

No you’re not looking through a NASA space telescope.

You’re actually in the Biloxi Upper elementary gymnasium but from inside the Starlab you would have no idea.

“Kids love science class. The motto in my class is science that is done is fun. Since I can’t take them to space I figured I would bring space here at the Starlab. The kids get to visit the Starlab and 360 degrees of space is surrounding them. Hopefully they go home and talk about this cool experience. I always if our lesson makes it to the dinner table that’s a win.” – Chastity Pickich, Biloxi Upper Elementary 5th Grade Science Teacher.

For 46 years star labs has delivered unforgettable learning experiences to kids across the southeast so the things they learn in class can be brought to life in front of their eyes.

“This is a mobile planetarium. When you walk in there’s a projector that projects to the top half of the dome. It will take kids through space, it can show them all the constellations and planets, and we can travel outside the galaxy. It can do a lot of cool things that they are learning about and it puts it all into perspective for them.” – Ashley Bailey, Graduate Research Fellow at  the Center for Mathematics and Science Education at the University of Mississippi.
